A long time ago, there used to be IT professionals that their full-time role in their company was to be e-mail administrator. With the evolution of enterprise services like Office 365 or Google Suite, this dedicated role is extremely hard to find anymore. Will the same thing happen to DBAs?

It is no secret that virtualization, cloud and the increased levels of infrastructure automation have made DBAs life easier, but also taken away many of the responsibilities that used to consume a large part of our time. We hear more and more about how data is the new oil, but are you well positioned to evolve as a data professional with the industry? There is definitely a large opportunity for data pros to capture it but it requires that we analyze our industry, its direction and most importantly, ourselves!

In this session I will go over the changes I have seen happen to our profession over the last few years, the industry trends that are affecting it and how we can all navigate this new challenging landscape to still find work and success in our field.
